a breed of dog – a cross-breed between the greyhound and the terrier – smooth, thick coat (hair) in different colours; size: 1½-2 feet tall at the shoulder, and weight: 10-20 Kg. (male larger than female); feeds on the regular dog food; live for 12-20 years; originally from England, and then bred in the USA

Special Features:

Whippets are very good runners, and have been used in ‘dog race’.  For this racing ability, whippets are called ‘poor man’s race horse’!
