treason ~ treachery
[different pronunciation]
“Treason” (noun) is ‘the very serious criminal act of being disloyal (not having obedience or respect or honour to the king/queen, the government or the country) to one’s own country or the government, especially by helping its enemies or trying to remove the government using force {also called ‘high treason’} and a wife killing her husband is also considered treason but called ‘petit treason’’,
e.g.
The Army Chief was accused of treason against his country by giving away the army secrets to the enemy country.

“Treachery” (noun & a more general term – not necessarily be involving one’s own country) is ‘behaviour that may involve cheating (betrayal) the person who trusts, especially when this behaviour helps the enemy of the person who trusts’,
e.g.
The wise King came to know about his minister’s treachery and immediately had him put in prison.
There is a fear of treachery by the staff in all the big companies. [i.e. any of the staff members in big companies may sell or give away their company's secrets to the others]
