temporal ~ temporary

[the same first, second, third sounds, but the fourth sound is different]

Temporal” (adjective) means ‘connected with, related to or limited by time; near the temples on either side of the forehead; connected with or related to real physical world; practical, not spiritual or religious matters’,

(the temporal part of a human brain)

e.g.

The left temporal brain of a person is connected with the right side body parts and vice versa!

No spiritual leader has any temporal power on his/her disciples.    [i.e. the spiritual leader cannot control a person’s commitment to the real physical world – day to day affairs of the life]

Temporary” (adjective) means ‘(of something) continuing for only a short time; not permanent’

a temporary shelter

e.g.

The government built numerous temporary shelters for the thousands of flood victims.

Most of the staff in our office is appointed on temporary basis; they cannot enjoy the benefits the permanent staff enjoys.
