Shore” (verb) is ‘to support a wall, roof of a building or a large structure, such as a dome or tunnel, with large strong pieces of wood or metal to stop it from falling down; to help or support something, such as a financial situation, a sick business, etc’,

The crumbling outer walls of the fort have been shored up with felled tree trunks.

The entire family is making attempts to shore up its sick family hotel business.
