a breed of dog – gun dog – medium-sized with long or short coat (hair) in different colours, medium-sized head with broad forehead, medium-sized drooping ears, straight legs, long bushy or short hair tail; size: 1½-2 feet tall at the shoulder, 3½- 4 feet long, weight: 25-35 Kg. (male larger than female); feeds on the usual dog food; lives for 10-12 years; slightly different sub-breeds (originally from British Isles and Newfoundland, Canada), now found in most parts of the world
