prove ~ proof

“Prove” (verb ~~~ prove – proved – proved/proven) is ‘to show that something or someone is true or false, or good or bad by providing the necessary information and/or facts’,
e.g.
She had her photo taken just to prove that she was really there at that place.
She said she told the truth, but can she prove?
Their statement proved that I was innocent.
He proved himself to be a good manager.

“Proof”, as a noun, is ‘the information, facts, necessary documents, etc. that show that something or someone is true or false, or good or bad, or suitable or not suitable, etc.; evidence; a copy of some written matter or a photograph that is checked carefully and necessary changes made’; as a verb, it is ‘to treat a material with a (chemical) substance in order to protect it against water, oil, etc.’,
e.g.
She showed us this photo as proof that she was really there at that place.
There is no proof of existence of life on Mars.
He showed his bank passbook as proof of identity.
The photographer sent the proofs of the wedding photos to the bride for her approval.
The ropes and other climbing tools are normally proofed against water.
