President” (noun) is ‘the head of a government (usually elected) in some countries where there is no king or queen; the head of a society, club, or a large business firm’,

Mr. David Morgan, the chairman of England & Wales Cricket Board, and Mr. Sarad Pawar, the president of the BCCI, are both named as the next president of ICC.   [BCCI = Board of Control for Cricket in India; ICC = International Cricket Council]

Precedent” (noun) is ‘some earlier decision or a former custom or happening taken as an example or guide to the present actions or for what comes later’,

e.g.

Some orthodox communities are breaking with precedent by sending their women folk out for work.   [i.e. the precedent was not to send women out for work, but now that custom held as an example is now being broken]
