parch ~ perch

“Parch” (verb) is ‘(of sun, heat or wind) to cause to become hot and dry; to become very thirsty because of heat or hot weather; to cook something by drying on heat (not boiling)’,
{The past participle form — parch – parched – parched — used as an adjective is more commonly used to refer to something that is very dry and hot, and somebody very thirsty.}
e.g.
The grass is parched during summer.
The dry weather parched our throats and we all longed for a drink of cool water.

“Perch”, as a noun, is ‘a branch of a tree or a metal rod on which a bird rests; a high position, usually unsafe, in which a person or something is placed’; and as a verb, it means ‘(of birds) to come down from flying and rest on a perch; to keep oneself on a narrow high place; a kind of fish’,
e.g.
We built a thick, strong perch for our pet parrot.
We went fishing perch.
He perched on a high stool and had his beer.
