miner ~ minor
[‘minor’ rhymes with ‘miner’, the letters 'mi' in both words rhyme with the word "my"]
“Miner” is ‘a labour who works under the ground (a ‘mine’), digging out coal, gold, tin, etc.’,
e.g.
Life is not easy for any miner.
The coal miners have called for a strike again; this time it is for better working conditions.

“Minor”, as an adjective, means ‘small, simple, not dangerous, serious or important ~~~ opposite of ‘major’; children below certain age; a musical scale’,
e.g.
I have made some minor changes to my presentation.
That lucky child escaped from a major accident with only some minor injuries.
His musical symphony was in C minor. (scale)
and as noun, it means ‘a person – a boy or a girl – below the age of eighteen, ~~~ the opposite of ‘major’; (in American English) the second subject one studies at a university’,
e.g.
She is just a minor; you’ve got to wait for a couple of years to marry her.
Minors have no right to vote.
Ron took English as his major and Sanskrit as his minor at University.
