mercenary ~ missionary ~ machinery

“Mercenary” (noun – plural: mercenaries) is ‘a soldier who fights for any country or group that pays him money’,
e.g.
It is believed that at least ten foreign mercenary groups with thousands of mercenaries are fighting in African countries.

“Missionary” (noun – plural: missionaries) is ‘a person sent to a foreign country to teach those people about Christ and Christianity, and pursue them to become Christians’,
e.g.
Mother Teresa was a Christian missionary who served the poor people of the world in the name of God.

“Machinery” (uncountable noun, but there are expression where this word is used in its plural form ‘machineries’ which is, of course, considered ungrammatical by most grammarians) is ‘machines, usually large ones; a system and the process of keeping a system to run an organisation, government, etc’; the small parts inside a big machine’,
e.g.
Wet-grinders, mixers, washing-machines are some of the domestic machinery that is meant to save time and labour of a house-wife.
An efficient government must have effective administrative machinery to run itself smoothly.
