love:
(also used with the spelling ‘luv’ affectionately)
a person (or a thing) that another person loves or likes very much, e.g. “How are you, my love?” “Yes, my love! where do you want to go?” ”His first love is his music.” (in this context, ‘love’ often does not involve sex; it is a word used more to express affection, fondness, etc.)
{‘Love’ is more commonly used to refer to ‘a strong feeling of fondness for another person, e.g. “Her love for him was much stronger than her love for money!”, “He is in love with her.”; and ‘love’, as a verb, is the most commonly used word of all the “love” words, e.g. “I love you.”, “He loves her.”, “They loved each other very much.”}
