[the same pronunciation]

Left” (adjective, adverb & noun) is ‘of, in, on the side of a person’s body that has the heart (the side on which hand and leg are not used much); a political party (usually with a capital ‘L’)’,

e.g.

____________________

Left” (verb) is the past and the past participle form of the verb word ‘leave’ — leave – left – left – leaving, which means ‘to go away from a place or person; to allow or let something, such as work; to accompany somebody to someplace and then go away without the person’,

e.g.

{There is some confusion in using ‘forgot’ when ‘left’ is to be used.

Common Errors:

1.

Oh! I forgot my desk keys at home again.  [wrong]

Oh! I left my desk keys at home again.    [right]

2.

What am I to do now!  I forgot my (money) purse at office.  [wrong]

What am I to do now!  I left my (money purse) at office.   [right]

{Because…

Forgot” (verb) is the past tense form of the verb word ‘forget’ forget – forgot – forgot/forgotten, which mans ‘not to remember or not to get into one’s mind something which one knew before, or which one should have done already.

e.g.

I forgot to call my wife to tell her that I would be late home.

Therefore, ‘forgot’ cannot be used to say that a person has not got something that he/she is supposed to have with him/her!}
