kid:

kids playing football/soccer

(mostly in American English) a child;

a younger person, e.g. kid brother, kid sister

(an older girl taking care of her kid sister)

{also kiddie (kiddy) = an affectionate word for a child}

{Note: ‘kid’ is also used to refer to the baby of a goat; and also, as a verb, used to refer to the act of teasing or joking on somebody, e.g. “Take it easy, buddy; I was just kidding.”}

(“Kidder” is a person who kids, i.e. who jokes; and is a brother or close friend of someone.)
