a judge of a court of law

a public official, usually a qualified and knowledgeable person in law, who has the power to decide which/who is wrong and which/who is right when an argument, disagreement or accusation on somebody is brought to the court of law, and who knows how to conduct a trial of any case in a court of law;

a panel of judges at a competition/contest

a person who has the knowledge and experience in a particular field, such as music, art, science, philosophy, etc., so that he/she can give valuable opinion and can decide which/who is wrong and which/who is right or who has gained more points in a competition, contest, test, quiz, etc., and in this context, the person is not necessarily a person who has knowledge in law, e.g. “The judges of the contest declared Ahmed the winner of the recitation competition.” “Pete is a good judge of antique furniture.”, i.e. Pete knows much about very old and valuable furniture.
