husky
{plural – huskies}
an animal – mammal – a breed of dog – working dog – medium-sized with thick short hair (coat), muscular body;
looks like a wolf; size: 1½- 3 feet tall at the shoulder and weighs 20-35 Kg; feeds on meat of other animals and fish; lives for 10-14 years; several breeds originally from Northern Europe and N. America
Special Features:
Huskies are sturdy animals, and very famous for their infinite stamina; they can withstand very sever cold conditions.
Huskies have been used as herding dogs, guard dogs and for pulling sleds (sledges).
As the snowmobiles are being used to travel on ice these days, the huskies are used less and less for this purpose. However, they are used as pets, and as guard dogs in the cold parts of the world.
As people feel the name ‘husky’ very attractive, very many commercial products are named after these dogs, and several schools and organisations have the huskies on their logos!
The gallantry of huskies in saving human lives in sever winter weather are told in numerous stories; and several motion pictures (films) are made basing on the extraordinary abilities of these brave dogs!!
