a breed of dog – hunting dog – related to the hounds – large with strong, straight front legs, broad drooping ears, short stiff hair (coat); grows to 1½- 2 feet tall at the shoulder, weighs 30-35 Kg.; feeds on (eats) chicken, fish and meat and meat products; lives for 10-12 years; four breeds – English foxhound, American foxhound, Virginia foxhound and Welsh hound; originally from United Kingdom, now available all over the world

Foxhounds are bred for the purpose of hunting foxes, which is called a ‘fox hunt’.

Foxhounds have very good sense of smell, and they like to hunt in packs.

Foxhounds are kept as pets in many homes.
