(in American English) a person (soldier) in the armed forces whose rank is below that of an officer – below a commissioned officer or warrant officer,

e.g.

John is a very happy enlisted man who takes pride in being in the Army and serving his country.

When several of their enlisted men and women retuned to their home towns in caskets, the general public stared protesting and pressurising the government to withdraw their troops form the war.

Though we the common people hold high the enlisted men and women as our heroes, there are some bad eggs in them who involve themselves in shameful scandals and degrade the morale of the others!

There are several enlisted men and women (enlisted persons) who climb up the ladder and reach high honours in their career.
