‘to embezzle’ = to take and use, usually money that is in one’s care, in a wrong way, especially by showing false accounts, i.e. while buying something or getting some job done, the person in charge of that transaction shows more amount of money than it actually costs, like, for instance, if a pen costs $ 2, the amount entered in the records will be $ 4, and the extra $ 2 will be embezzled

Penalty for embezzlement may vary from case to case, but some punishment is common to all the proven embezzlers, for instance, the judge may sentence a particular embezzler for a period ranging from three years to thirty years of imprisonment depending on the nature of the embezzlement.
