elitist:

(also ‘elite‘, with the plural form ‘elite’ or ‘elites‘; plural: ‘elitists‘)

the elite’ & also without the article ‘the’ = a group of people that has knowledge, money and power in society; a group of intellectuals

a person who believes that a person should be given special treatment, respect and social status for their talents, intellectuality, wealth, etc., and supports the rule of an elite group,

some elitists that rule the trade

e.g.

In recent years more and more people are using ‘elitist’ to refer to a person whom they don’t like or whom they want to defame.

In politics, when a candidate is elected to a position, everything for him/her is changed — he/she is given special place to live, extra special security, special treatment at celebrations or visits and special entrance and exit at airports — everything for them is special. So now, what some experts wonder is when everything is so special about him/her, what’s wrong in calling him/her an elitist!

Some people want to know why a person is called an elitist, as an insult or abuse, if he’s more knowledgeable, talented or wealthy than others and he wants to show it, and, if the answer is ‘because he shows off and treats the have-nots meanly’, then what about those people who advise and direct the masses, the general public, with genuine interest and with good intentions, in matters that the masses are ignorant of… are they all elitists, too!

When the word ‘the elite’/'elites’ & ‘elitist’ is used for non-political people, like for popular sports personalities or military personnel, it is a compliment and praise, denoting ‘the best’, but when it is used for politicians or something related to politics, it is an insult or abuse, denoting ‘the worst’!
