discreet  –  discrete:

[the same pronunciation, as in ‘discreet’]

Discreet” means ‘tactful, careful, especially in what one chooses to say; showing good sense and judgement; not telling away secrets’,

e.g.

He’s a very discreet person.

It wasn’t very discreet of him to ring her up at her office.

Discrete” means ‘separate, detached; discontinuous; unconnected’,

e.g.

This instrument consists of two discrete parts.

A butterfly passes several discrete stages in its life cycle.
