dermatologist:

(plural: ‘dermatologists‘; pronunciation: the letter ‘g’ is said with a ‘dg’ sound as in “judge”)

‘dermatology’ = a branch of medical science that deals with the nature, care and diseases of people’s skin

a doctor who specialises in treating skin diseases; a skin doctor,

a dermatologist treating her patient

e.g.

My cousin Sue is a dermatologist, having her own skin-care clinic on Doctors’ Road in our town.

There is a growing demand for dermatologists in general because people are growing more conscious of their looks and seeking medical help to look smarter and younger.

As the pollution rates in the atmosphere are growing rapidly, people are getting newer and more serious skin diseases, and as a result dermatologists are becoming busier.

The difference between a dermatologist and a cosmetologist is that a ‘dermatologist’ is a medical doctor who can treat the diseases of skin and do skin operations (surgery) to set skin problems right and a ‘cosmetologist’, on the other hand, is an expert who has some training on the nature of skin and knows how to keep a person’s skin clean and, more importantly, beautiful!
