A democrat is a permanent resident (a citizen) of a place/state/country who supports and enjoys the benefits of democracy, a system of government in which each individual adult has a right to say how and for what the government should work.

In the present political scenario, most of the countries in the world are democrats following democracy as the system of government in their countries.

Of the two major political parties in the USA, the present government is run by Democrats of the Democratic Party and the Opposition party is led by Republicans of the Republican Party.
