Decree” is ‘an order with the force of law given by an official of a court of law or a ruler or government, or a religious establishment, such as church, temple or mosque’, and ‘to give such an order’,

(b) step by step

(c) a certificate or title given by a college or university for a student who successfully completed a course of study

e.g.

an angle of 90 degrees (90)
an angle of 90 degrees (90º)

Draw an angle of sixty degrees (60º).

temperature in 40 degrees celcius (40)
temperature is 40 degrees Celsius (40ºC)

The temperature rose to forty degrees (40º C).

an honorary university degree (educational qualification)
a university honorary degree (educational qualification)

She has a Master’s degree in Physics.   (M.Sc.,)
