darling:

(plural: ‘darlings‘)

a person who is very much liked or loved (by another person),

(Oh, my darling!)

e.g.

Her daughter is a darling; looks so cute and calm.

A boy to his girlfriend: “Hi, darling, what’s up?”

Mary hates being called ‘darling’ by her grumpy boss.

My two granddaughters, Nikki and Sahi, are my darlings; I love them very much!

('You win, my darling!')

Note 1: A more common usage is that ‘darling’ is used to call (to address) a sweet, loving person,

e.g.
a mother to her child: “Are you ready, darling?”

a husband to his wife: “I love you, darling!”
