His Holiness Tenzin Gyasto (real name) the present (2011) and 14th Dalai Lama of Tibet Buddhism
the head of the Lama religion – Lamaism;

the 13th Dalai Lama, Thubten Gyatso (1876 — 1933)
The present Dalai Lama of Tibet has been out of Tibet and been living in India, i.e. in exile, since 1959, and has been fighting for the social, political and religious freedom for his people from China.
There is a great disagreement among the Buddhists in general, Tibetians in particular and the Chinese government on the question of selecting the next Dalai Lama.
Whenever any American president meets the Dalai Lama, the Chinese government expresses its disapproval of such meetings and threatens with dire consequences.
