consignor:

[also, less commonly,‘consigner’; plural: 'consignors'; pronunciation: the letter 'c' is said with a 'k' sound as in "king"; the word opposite in meaning: consignee (previous entry)]

a consignor delivering a parcel to a consignee

‘consignment’ = some valuable things — goods, cargo or shipment — that are delivered from a long distance, usually by ship or air; ‘to consign’ = to give something to the care/in the charge of somebody; to send something, such as some goods by post or through a courier service

the person or company that sends some consignment to somebody as a part of a sale;

a shipper (when the goods are sent by ship),

a consignor accused of stealing

e.g.

Karol is an international consignor who undertakes shipment of goods from any producer to any consumer in the world.

In some cases, it is usually the consignor’s responsibility to see that the goods/consignment reaches the consignee passing through all the ports and customs; in some other cases, however, depending on the nature of the consignment, a consignor declares no responsibility of passing the consignment through the customs.

In case a consignee fails to clear the consignment within a specified period of time and the port authorities demand extra payment towards storage, the consignor holds no responsibility; it is the consignee who should pay the extra amount and get the consignment cleared!
