(also ‘environmentalist‘; plural: ‘conservationists‘; pronunciation: the letter ‘‘c’ is said with a ‘k’ sound as in “king”)
(conservation)
‘conservation’ = the activity of using the natural resources, such as water, plant and animal life and minerals, found on/in the Earth in a controlled way to prevent waste, loss or destruction of those natural resources, and preservation and right management of all the natural resources so that there is minimum pollution in the atmosphere
an active supporter of conservation;
a conservation scientist,
R.I.P. Gerald Durrell, a true conservationist
e.g.
One of the most sincere conservationists I like the most is Gerald Malcolm Durrell, OBE (1925 — 1995) who wrote number of books on animals and nature and founded ‘Gerald Durrell Trust’ & ‘Jersey Zoo’, a haven for most of the endangered species of animals!
These days being a conservationist is a very risky affair because greedy people who pollute our planet just to make some extra money do not like any conservationist coming in their way, and so to stop any conservationist, they go to the extent of killing him/her.
There are different types of conservationists: wildlife conservationists, agriculture conservationists, land conservationists, water conservationists, marine conservationist, library conservationist, and so on.
