conjurer:

(also with the spelling ‘conjuror’; plural: ‘conjurers‘; pronunciation: the letter ‘c’ is said with a ‘k’ sound as in “king”)

to conjure = to make something appear or disappear as if by magic, and/or do something so fast that the normal eye cannot follow; ‘conjury’ is the act of practising magic

a conjurer/wizard

a person who conjures;

a magician;

a juggler, who does magic tricks to make people happy or laugh as an entertainment,  for money or as a hobby;

a person, especially a witch doctor, who treats patients with magic/evil powers;

a sorcerer or sorceress;

a person who asks or requests another sincerely,

a conjurer/witch doctor

e.g.

The company hired a conjurer besides an orchestra at their annual dealers’ meet of the year to entertain the guests and also to fill in the gaps between one speaker and the other.

It hard to believe that there are still conjurers (witch doctors) to whom patients go for medical treatment.

It a shame that in this modern age, there are still some ignorant people who go to the so-called conjurers who are believed to be capable of  of ‘evocation’,  the acts of ‘calling the local gods or deities’, especially at the time of political elections or on the occasion of starting a huge venture!

There are regular incidents where village people beat up, or even kill, a man or a woman whom they believe is a conjurer (sorcerer or sorceress) practicing black magic on those who do not pay them.

Note: ‘Conjurer’ or ‘conjuror’ is also used to refer to an ordinary person who can be very resourceful, i.e. a person who can get things done easily and quickly and also come up with some ideas or tactics that work against some unexpected problem or difficulty, e.g. “Mash is such a conjurer that he comes up with a solution to any unforeseen problem and with him about you don’t have to stop anything you’re doing!”; and ‘to conjure’, a verb, is used to mean ‘to produce something from no where’ as if by magic, but not by a magician or entertainer in this context, e.g. “My secretary can conjure up fantastic ideas to boost our sales.” And for an article/news item that shows how ordinary people are referred to as ‘conjurers’, please click here.
