‘congress’ = a formal meeting of some people, especially a meeting of elected or appointed representatives in a free country; a group meeting; (always with a capital ‘c’) the governing body of the elected people in the USA; the name of a political party in some countries: the Congress Party and some other political parties with ‘Congress’ in their names, Indian; the African National Congress and the Congress of the People, South Africa; Lesotho Congress for Democracy, Lesotho; etc. And ‘congress’, without the capital ‘c’, except at the beginning of a sentence, is also used for the act of sex, and also for a group of baboons, a kind of monkey
