concessionaire:

(also ‘concessioner’; plural: ‘concessionaires‘; pronunciation: the first ‘c’ in this word is pronounced with a ‘k’ sound as in “king” — for the right pronunciation of the word, please click here.)

a concessionaire owning a concession (canteen) at a theatre

‘a concession’ = a special consideration, such as fewer or lower taxes or no taxes or less than what others pay, etc. given to somebody or some organisation, e.g. a farmer is given free power supply or is charged less on power bills than non-farmers; the condom producing companies are not asked to pay taxes that the companies that produce entirely different things are asked to pay; the employees of a company given shorter working hours, etc., and also a small business, such as a canteen, souvenir shop, a small book store, etc. at railway or bus stations, large malls, theatres, cinemas, hospitals, fair grounds, etc.

a person (or a company, firm, organisation, etc.) that is given a concession of payment – with special privileges, more facilities, less burden, removing some restrictions in doing something, etc.;

a person or business that is given a right to do business, selling a product or giving service, at place or in a building that runs another business or a business of its own,

a concessionaire at her stall at a fair

e.g.

Donald is a concessionaire running a small novelty shop at the railway station.

The fair grounds’ organisation is inviting the new concessionaires to occupy their respective stalls.

In this recession, though large businesses face financial difficulties, the concessionaires enjoy their privileges as usual!
