comrade:

(plural: ‘comrades‘; pronunciation: the letter ‘c’ is said with a ‘k’ sound as in “king”)

young comrades

a close friend or companion, especial a friend who shares interests, activities, difficulties, troubles or work load;

a companion;

a fellow agitator or a fellow member of a movement or protest, especially a strong movement (revolution), in protest of some government policies, system, etc. where the members take up weapons to fight;

Comrade’, usually with a capital ‘c’, is more commonly used by communists to mean a fellow member of the Communist or Socialist Party, in place of ‘mister/Mr.’ or ‘friend/fellow’.

Communist Party comrades

e.g.

When Noel was arrested, the police asked him to tell them the whereabouts of his comrades who they believed were also involved in the theft.

When Nancy lost everything in the fire accident, each of her comrades lent a hand and saved her from that tragic situation.

The commissar said to the members of the party: “Comrades! Wake up!! Fight for our motherland!!!”

The old leader with all his comrades in arms joined the protest against the government’s corrupt policies and made the movement a grand success.
