(plural: ‘composers‘; the letter ‘c’ is said with a ‘k’ sound as in “king”; please pay attention to the pronunciation of the letters ‘po’ which rhyme with the letters ‘po’ in “pole”)

‘to compose’ (verb) = to write music; to set up type for some text; to create something using all the necessary components; to make oneself or somebody calm and quiet; to settle or adjust something, etc.

a person who writes music; a music composer;

a person whose job is to set up type for some text at a printing press,

a music composer writing music

e.g.

At the age of seven Edward Tomanek became Britain’s youngest music composer.

Most composers are known to play more than one music instrument and they have learned some basics of reading music.

When the government needed a new song for the opening ceremony of the Olympic Games, it invited several international song writers, lyricists and music composers to come up with a song that must highlight the Games as well as the country.

As more and more printing presses are using machines to print texts and books, the composers are going out of job, and no new apprentices are coming forward to learn this trade of type setting.
