Note: A ‘chessman’ is not a ‘chess player’ who plays a game of chess.
any one of the 32 pieces (two sets of 16 pieces on each side) in different shapes which can be moved on a board in a game of chess, each piece, however, has a name of its own, such as ‘king’, ‘queen’ ‘bishop’, ‘rook’, ‘knight or horse’, etc., and a ‘pawn’ is one of the eight least powerful pieces/men,

Every one must remember that a chessman is not a person who plays chess because a person who plays chess is called a chess player.
In a game of chess, a player’s victory or defeat depends on the way he/she moves the chessmen.
Note: ‘Chessman’, always with a capital ‘c’ and without a plural form, is often found in the names of people, e.g. Caryl Chessman, Lewis Chessman, Zomora Chessman, etc.
