any child that is exchanged for another while still a baby;

a stupid or ugly child left in place of a beautiful clever one, by fairies in fairy tales;

a person who is not clever, or who changes his/her ideas and views quite often,

There are cases of real changelings in hospitals where corrupt hospital staff switch babies for money.
