cast – caste

“Cast”, as a verb, means:

[cast – cast – cast – (casting)]
(a) ‘to give a vote in an election’
(b) ‘to give an acting part in a play or film’
(c) ‘to throw away; remove; cause to fall or drop’
(d) ‘to pour or fill a mold with molten metal to make ‘cast-iron’ things’
and as a noun, it is ‘all the people acted in a play or film’,
e.g.
Most of the voters cast their votes in favour of the Opposition Party.
The fishermen cast their nets into the calm water to catch fish.
“Caste” (with an ‘e’) is always a noun and it means ‘a social class or division of Hindu society in countries like India; a division of society based on birth, wealth, rank, etc.’,
e.g.
In olden days people from lower castes were not allowed to enter temples.
