Caracals are now kept as pets. In olden days they were tamed and trained to be used in hunting, especially in countries like Iran and India. ‘Caracal’ in Turkish language means “black ear”. Caracals are known to live without drinking water for long periods. They are considered the fastest of all cats of their size. They can catch a bird just after take-off, jumping in the air up to five feet.
