Most people are confused between a bell ringer and a campanologist: a bell-ringer is a person who rings bells, usually the church bells, and a campanologist is a person who knows how to make bells and how to maintain them. However, as campanology includes the art of ringing bells, a person who can ring bells in different notes can also be called a campanologist.
