a bum (a beggar)

a beggar who wanders (goes from place to place); a hobo;

a person who does his/her job badly or poorly, without quality or refinement;

a person who spends a lot of time watching games or amusing him/herself;

a lazy and useless person who depends on others for food and drinks; an idler,

a lazy bum

e.g.

John’s drinking habit has turned him into a bum.

My assistant is a silly bum; doesn’t know the difference between a copier and a fax machine.

This beach is famous for its regular beach bums.

Note: ‘Bum’, in slang usage, is more commonly used to refer to the part of the body a person sits on — backside, bottom, buttocks.
