English bulldog:
an English bulldog
this breed is originated in England, a cross between mastiff and pug, two breeds of dog; short, muscular body, wide chest, large head, box-like upturned muzzle (mouth and nose part), lower jaw longer than the upper jaw; lots of loose skin folds on the face and around the muzzle, and dewlap (loose fold of skin under the neck); short tail; grows to 12-16 inches (31-40 cm), bitches (female) slightly shorter, weighs 24-27 Kg., bitches slightly lighter; lives up to 8-13 years
It is the national emblem of the UK and the national animal of England. Though it looks odd, different and intimidating for a dog, it is very gentle by nature, and so makes not only a guard dog but also a loveable pet dog. It is originally bred for bull baiting or bear baiting, a blood sport. (B) American bulldog: this breed is taller than the English bulldog with fewer skin folds on the face, longer legs and finer muzzle (mouth and nose part), grows up to 22-28 inches, bitches (female) slightly shorter; weighs up to 32-54 Kg., bitches slightly lighter; lives up to 16 years; found in the United States of America
It has a lot of endurance. It is also used in the bull-baiting and bear-baiting. It is a popular guard dog and pet dog in the States. It is the mascot (symbol or emblem) of several universities in the States; and the official mascot of the United States Marine Corps.
