buddy:

(also ‘bud‘; plural: ‘buddies‘; pronunciation: the letter ‘u’ rhymes with the letter ‘u’ in ‘but’)

a group of buddies

a close friend, companion, partner, especially of a man;

a person (volunteer) who helps an AIDS patient,

a buddy (L) with an aids patient (R)

e.g.

When he needs any help, Tom goes to his buddy, Ahmed, and gets what he needs.

Mathew and Fred are good jogging buddies; they go for a long jog every morning.

Jane broke up with her boyfriend because he seemed to spend more time with his drinking buddies than he did with her.

Note: ‘Buddy’, always with a capital “B”, is often found in people’s first names, e.g. Buddy Harris, Buddy Young, Buddy Rice, etc.
Note: ‘Butt buddies’ are two very close friends that spend most of the time together, as if nobody couldĀ separateĀ them (may or may not be homosexuals, not necessarily gays).
