bridesmaid:

(also ‘bride of honour‘; plural: ‘bridesmaids‘; male: ‘goomsman‘; pronunciation: ‘brides…maid’)
a girl or young unmarried woman who attends the bride, the young woman to be married, on the day of marriage ceremony (at the wedding),

three bridesmaids with their bride (in white)
e.g.

A bride must have at least one bridesmaid with her at her wedding ceremony.

After being a bridesmaid for at about six of her friends, Susan is now getting worried when she is going to be a bride herself.

The more the number of bridesmaids and flower girls, the more cheerful and colourful a wedding ceremony looks!

Note: A ‘matron of honour’, on the other hand, is a married woman who attends a bride at her wedding ceremony, and also a married woman, usually a lady from a noble family or a lady with some social status, who attends a queen or princess on special or formal occasions.
