borrow  –  lend

[different pronunciation & these two words are antonyms – opposite in meaning]

Borrow” means ‘to take something from someone for a limited period of time on the understanding that it or its equivalent will be returned’,

(a girl borrowing some money from her mom)
(a girl borrowing some money from her mom)

e.g.

He lost all his money in races and had to borrow some from his friends for his train fare home.

[A person who takes/accepts/asks for some favour/help/money is a 'borrower'.]

Lend” means ‘to give something to someone on the understanding that it or its equivalent is to be returned in the future’,

(a man lending some money)
(a man lending some money)

e.g.

Don’t lend anything to my brother; he’ll never return it.

[A person who gives/sends some favour/help/money is a 'lender'.]
