‘border’ means ‘the outer edge of something, such as a piece of land, especially an imaginary line drawn between two countries — a boundary,  a piece of cloth, a line or some design drawn to mark the edges on a sheet of paper, etc.’

a person who lives near a country’s border, especially those living on or near the border between England and Scotland,

Several land-locked countries are at war with their neighbours and the borderers on either side suffer life and property losses.

Borderers near the US side of the US-Mexican border are warned to be vigil and report any strangers immediately to the nearest police station as the illegal immigrants have started to harm the borderers for good and money while sneaking into the US.
