bookworm:

(plural: ‘bookworms‘; pronunciation: ‘book…worm’)

a typical bookworm

a person who likes books very much and spends a lot of time reading and studying; a bibliophile;

a person who pays more attention to the rules and regulations, morals and book reading than he/she is actually knowledgeable or credible;

a pedant,

(a book damaged by bookworms/insects)

e.g.

Jane is a great bookworm; you see her reading a book whenever she finds a short break in her busy day.

There are several bookworms in our classmates whom you see in the library after the class hours.

The bookworms in the bookworms’ club near our school are crazy; they talk nothing except books and books!

‘Bookworm’ is more commonly used to refer to any insect and its larva that eat away pages and binding paste in books, such as silverfish, booklice, etc.
