Boa constrictors are non-poisonous which means they do not bite, but winds around the prey (= animal that they eat) and tightens or squeezes it to death and swallows it whole. Boa constrictors are the only species (kind) that have the common name and the scientific name the same. Some boa constrictors are good tree climbers and good swimmers. They give birth to live young. Some species (kinds) can hiss so loudly that it can be heard a hundred feet away. They are killed for their skin, for food and simply out of fear.
