bluebeard:

(plural: ‘bluebeards‘; pronunciation: ‘blue…beard’)

‘Bluebeard’ originated from the name of a character in a fairy tale ‘The seven wives of bluebeard’.

a man who marries and kills one wife after another (marries one woman and after some time kills her and again marries another woman and after some time kills her, and again…)

e.g.

Neighbours suspect that Malcolm is a bluebeard because he shows a new woman as his wife each time he throws a party, and if he is asked about the previous one, he says he has divorced her.

We often hear about a bluebeard or two — men being arrested for marrying and killing one wife after another.

It has become a mystery, even for the psychologists, how any man becomes a bluebeard and why he kills his wives!

“Bluebeard” is also used as an adjective to refer to something that is forbidden to see or talk about, e.g. ‘bluebeard chambers of his mind’, etc. (from www.dictionary30.com)
