(plural: ‘blowers‘)

‘to blow’, in this context = to send air either from one’s own lungs or from any device into or on to something or someone

a glass blower

(usually in combination with other words) a person who blows a whistle, horn, etc.;

a glass blower — a person whose job is to make glass articles by blowing air into the melted glass blobs;

a person who is known to talk loudly about the greatness one’s own achievements or possessions — bragging or boasting — bragger (‘blow’ in this context = ‘brag’, ‘boast’, ‘talk too much very proudly’)

a blower (L) bragging about himself before his assistant (R)

e.g.

John is the whistle blower of the government’s wasteful spending.  (i.e. John knows about the wasteful spending by the government departments and is now making it known to all the people, probably by giving the information to the newspapers and TV)

Mike has been a glass blower all his life, making excellent glass objects that are very popular with the tourists.

Our boss is a blower… always bragging about how he made his business grow to this stage.

A more common meaning of ‘blower’ is an apparatus (device or machine) for producing a current of air or gas, such as a fan, and also a ‘telephone’.
