bliss  –  bless

[slightly different vowel sound]

Bliss” means ‘great joy; complete happiness’,

(a baby in bliss)
(a baby’s bliss)

e.g.

What bliss to be away from all the noise and heat!

Her idea of bliss is to spend a lot of money buying worthless things.

Bless” means ‘to ask for God’s favour; to make (something) holy or sacred’,

(a priest's first blessings)
(a priest’s first blessings)

e.g.

The priest blessed the water before giving it to the congregation to drink.
