blackmailer:

(plural: ‘blackmailers‘; pronunciation: ‘black…mailer’)

a person who somehow gets or gathers another person’s secrets and demands money or other benefits from them by threatening to reveal (show or tell others) those secrets;

a bloodsucker,

an alleged blackmailer in a court of law

e.g.

The police are in search of a blackmailer who has been blackmailing film actors with the photos of their private lives.

Everybody must know that ‘blackmailing’ is a crime, and the ‘blackmailer’ is a criminal.

In some countries, the law is more severe with the victims than it is with the blackmailers for the simple reason that if victims go on paying to the blackmailers without reporting to the police, the number of blackmailers increases and it will be even harder for the police and the government to control them.
