(also ‘common blackbird’ and ‘Eurasian blackbird’) – medium-sized song bird belongs to thrush group; with a long tail and pointed wings; male completely black but female sooty-brown in colour; grows to 9 to 11 inches long and weighs 80-120 grams; feeds (eats) on insects, earth worms, and fruit (berries); found in Europe, South Asia, North Africa, and introduced to New Zealand and Australia {the North American species (kinds) are not counted in by all bird specialists}

Special Features:
‘Common blackbird’ is the national bird of Sweden, a country in Europe.

The male bird (cock) is completely black, except round the eyes and the beak (bill).

It is one of the birds that sing melodiously – their call is like a sweet song.
